Nokia reports a rise in the use of Ovi Store

OVI Store



Though Ovi Store still offers a limited catalog of applications compared with the alternatives to Apple and Google, the service is developing steadily and this latest statistics show that Nokia provided. The new data show that active users of online services of the company are 140 million worldwide, each day Ovi Store is entered over 200 000 people. The number of applications downloaded every day is now 2.3 million. For the authors of the applications might be interesting to learn that the titles of 70 of companies offering content on Ovi Store, have already been downloaded over a million times. These include Digital Chocolate, Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Indiagames, PepsiCo, Qik, Shazam, HeroCraft and Offscreen Technologies.
With the Nokia N8, which is already sold and the new generation of smartphones with Symbian the company offers an updated version of the client to access the service, which greatly facilitated not only work with Ovi Store, but the opening and downloading applications. Along with that recently went into effect new rules for authors of applications that make the publication of Symbian applications much easier, faster and cheaper. In addition, they will now receive a higher proportion of revenues from software. Improvements were made in Nokia Qt SDK, leading to 70% reduction of lines of source code applications.
